The World Pastry Cup, France
A FASCINATING FRENCH EVENT !
Created in 1989, the World Pastry
Cup, or Coupe du Monde de la Patisserie, took France by storm. This event is still held today! A Concentration
in the profession of pastry making holds a special place in the heart of France. Dedicated to this french event every January annually Pastry artists gather from all over to participate in this beautiful festival labeled by many as the most delectable
competition in the world.
Many of the world's top pastry chefs participate in this Pastry Art Competition and festival.
Pastry professionals from approximately 22 countries participate
Each country presents a team of
three people selected during a national trial –
These must be:
a pastry-cook,
a chocolate maker
and an
ice-cream maker.
The World Pastry Cup is
the only competition of its kind in the world that is held live.
Each team is required to display creativity and technical skills in the making of a chocolate dessert, a
fruit and ice-cream dessert presented on an ice sculpture base, and a typical
plate dessert from their country.
Only nine hours is allowed for participants to to prepare their displays.
Judged by taste and artistic quality a panel of international judges take charge of the final displays and choose a winner.
The international judges are limited only one from
each participating country may judge the displays.

Geez...if I went to all that work, I'd want it to last forever; but it doesn't. Lovely to look at though.
